  1. Sports Illustrated is very nationalistic and very woke at the same time. Serena is their perfect choice.

  2. In my opinion – It has taken many ppl a long, LONG time to embrace The Williams Sisters… Especially Serena and her ability to totally dominate other competitors in the Tennis Game.
All the insults, all the racism, all the down-right hate I've observed. It wasn't right…. But, OK…. Cool….. Because their dear Dad taught them how to deal with ALL THAT!

I think it was rather hard for many across the net as well as behind the mic to see that The Williams Sisters were bred to dominate. (There's nothing wrong with that). Their Father wasn't kidding when he said he and their Mom would do this thing they did! They came from Compton, but No matter where they came from – Thank God they CAME… when they did because Tennis needed SOMETHING! I dare say they delivered. Women's Tennis got a shot in the arm that was heard/felt/appreciated around the World!

I had a job….. i had to take care of my own kids, so I didn't watch that much TV. (LOL) However, I'm just glad I had TV during the years they were racking up Wins! What champs! I missed sooooo much sleep getting up early to see them! LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!! WOULD TOTALLY DO IT AGAIN! Btw- I'm 60 years old – and they inspire me daily!

Take it from me: The Williams Sisters ROCK! This is 2018 and they're NOT DONE YET!

  3. Notice it's sports'person' of the year, because with this man SIR-ena, it can't be sports WOMAN of the year.

  4. Serena Williams is a Generational player

A player like Serena Williams only comes alone every generation. Truth be told but, if not for Serena's past health problems, It's obvious that she would have won this award and broke Graff's record long ago, but we're here now to celebrate and acknowledge a true Champion who is much deserving of this long awaited award and to break more ground in 2016.

My advice to Serena is to not stop and smell the roses just yet, because we have more work to do. Keep that insatiable hunger to Seek & Destroy and 2016 will bring you to the Promise land where you will stand alone as Queen of Throne

Congratulations Serena Williams aka Miss G.o.a.t

  5. SI botched this pick, they already look silly for it, Pharoah accomplished what no horse will likely ever do again.

  6. SI got it right! Amazing record out of 56 matches Serena Williams won 53!!Congrats on being Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year 2015!!

  7. SI what is? I never read this magazine and I don´t know what´s exactly but Djokovic has better results than Serena in 2015. This is type of thing than people don´t put credibility. The difference is: she´s from USA and Djokovic from Serbia.
    Djokovic 2015 Serena 2015
